1. Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. When we are dehydrated our skin is more likely to burn.

2. Cleanse yourself of heavy metals. Do not drink alcohol, use any form of tobacco, etc. When in contact with the far infrared rays of the sun it pulls toxins out of our body. Those toxins begin to bake on the surface of our skin when our bodies are severely toxic. This is one way we will burn more easily.

3. Stop wearing sunglasses. They prevent light from reaching your eyes. You have an optical nerve that connects to the hypothalamus in your brain which adjusts the skin’s resistance to the sun depending on how much light your eyes are exposed to. The Bible has taught this principle for over several thousand years. It states, “In the morning sow thy seed… Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun” (Ecclesiastes 11:6-7)

4. Use coconut oil instead of sunscreen. Using coconut oil as an alternative will prevent the absorption of many harmful and harsh chemicals found in common sunscreen. Coconut oil naturally has an SPF of about 4-6. By regular light applications of it you can enjoy many other healing benefits as well.

5. Eat a plant-based diet. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with many antioxidants. A sun burn is simply your skin cells oxidizing. You will be able to enjoy the fresh air outside in the sun longer if you have more antioxidant protection in your body from eating a plant-based diet like Daniel. See Daniel 1:5-12.

The Word of God speaks of a time in the near future that “there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation” (Daniel 12:1). During this time the Book of Revelation describes 7 last plagues that are sure to come upon the earth. The fourth of these plagues prophecies how the power of the sun will be intensified and the “men were scored with great heat” (Revelation 16:8-9) Many will be scorched with a sun burn more terrible than anything we have experienced on this earth. Yet our Father in heaven will not leave His obedient children without protection from the Sun. Of this “time of trouble” the prophet Isaiah gives us the following promise in (Isaiah 49:10) “They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.” (See also Psalms 121:6-7)

How does God plan to protect His children through these plagues?
“Neither of you have seen the necessity of health reform, but when the plagues of God shall be all around you, you will then see the principles of health reform and strict temperance in all things,–that temperance alone is the foundation of all the graces that come from God, the foundation of all victories to be gained.” {Temperance Pg. 201.4}
